Hello! My name is Rafa and I am a student studying both Graphic Design and Object Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

My artist journey involves trusting the process. In my early years of artmaking I pursued digital mediums such as blender and photoshop where I dove into the world of digital art, exploring topics of identity and mental health. The switch to higher education shifted my practice to typographical mediums of design where I learned the ins and out of Visual Commnunications. In Visual Communications I learned how to print and create books, design logos and posters, however I felt that my art practice was missing a more physical aspect. Taking my graphic design experience home, I took a year off to rekindle my passion for artistry. After a Summer of being a barista, I decided to pursue Object Design, a topic I dipped by toes in freshman year and I absolutely fell in love with it. Thats where I am today!
